Meet Mitika // Suri Times Two

Meet M 5 Meet Mitika, a fashion, illustration and travel blogger with a penchant for gold who creatively documents her journeys around the world. Following the wanderlust and style inspired ideals that Ottoman Hands hold dear, we catch up with the gorgeous up and coming blogger, discussing travel ideas, the love of jewellery and working with your husband. What inspired you to start blogging? A year ago I set out to document my creative findings and founded my blog. Initially it was a means of showcasing my artwork but soon turned into a personal style blog. I received wonderful feedback from readers around the world which motivated me to continue to invest time and energy in creating beautiful visual content. Your blog is quite eclectic, how would you describe your personal style? I love fashion and its ability to translate/ convey a person’s character. I can’t categorise myself to one specific style; it can be defined by a love of certain colours, garment cuts, fabric and prints. I always dress for my figure, it's how I feel most confident. My wardrobe colour palettes change according to seasons but I tend to gravitate towards neutrals which compliment my skin tone. How important is jewellery in your style routine? My love of accessories means I rarely leave the house without jewellery on. Gold is my favourite metal: it reminds me of the sun and the colour reflects a gorgeous warmth. This was the beginning of my love affair with Ottoman Hands. I was mesmerised by the richness of the gold and the beauty of the gems. I saw character, charm and a visible culture. Wearing the jewellery it feels like I own a slice of history, each individual piece has its own story to tell. The designs made me think of a different country; Wanderlust fuels my love for traveling! What is it about travelling that really inspires you? Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. Simply put it creates a rounded individual, presenting you with challenges and opportunities to discover who you are. I have been privileged enough to visit many different countries: my husband Gurpreet Suri (my photographer) and I share the same passion for exploring. It fuels our sense of adventure, takes us out of comfort zones and has given us the means to document what we see in a creative way through the blog. meet M 1Meet M 2Meet M 3 Mitika's picks Stay up to date with Mitika's adventures and see her style picks of SS15 on Suri Times Two.
